Another day, another high-valued property transaction by Mukesh Ambani — the 14th richest man on this planet, according to Forbes, who has an estimated net worth of $88.4 billion (approximately Rs 7,32,221 crore). Just days after selling his plush two-bedroom Manhattan apartment for Rs 74.5 crore, Ambani is now in the spotlight again for an upcoming project located near Delhi-NCR.
According to DNA, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Ltd (Mukesh Ambani) has been focused on building a world-class smart city, named Model Economic Township Limited (Met City), in Haryana, which has already attracted an investment of Rs 1,200 crore from multiple companies in 2022-2023.

Spread over 8,000 acres of land, the upcoming smart city is being developed by RIL’s subsidiary Model Economic Township Limited. Apart from the Rs 1,200 crore investment it received from 76 new companies, the upcoming project backed by Ambani’s RIL company has witnessed good growth with the sale of 1200 units, taking the total tally to 2000, according to DNA.
Japanese investment
According to CNBC TV18, four giant Japanese companies – Nihon Kohden, Panasonic, Denso, and T-Suzuki – have already established their offices in the Met City, which is located in Jhajjar, Haryana. Confirming the news, Ambani’s firm has released a statement that read, “Nihon Kohden, a manufacturer of medical devices, recently did a ground-breaking ceremony on their plot at MET City,” in the second half of 2022.
Following the statement, Kentaro Kusano, the Managing Director of Nihon Kohden India Pvt Ltd, told CNBC TV18 that the new facility is four times larger than the firm’s factory in Gujarat, marking a significant milestone for the company’s commitment to expanding its business in India and positioning Nihon Kohden to achieve its vision of becoming a trusted partner and provider to enhance healthcare in the country.
Next phase goals
With prime NCR cities like Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and others located close to the project, the RIL subsidiary has gone on to invest an additional Rs 1,000 crore in the next phase after an initial investment of Rs 8,000 crore, according to DNA.
Better connectivity
Located along the Kundli Manesar Palwal (KMP) Expressway, the Met City is easily accessible from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. According to the DNA report, the project will also have good rail connectivity with the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).
Various facilities
The DNA report also noted that Met City offers families access to various facilities including educational institutions such as The Sehwag School and SGT University, as well as medical facilities including an AIIMS institute located nearby.
